School Council News
From the President
Hi Everyone,
Our July School Council Meeting was full of some exciting news around buildings and maintenance.
You may notice the outside walls of the building near the stairs at the back of the office (above the basketball courts) are looking a little cleaner! We have some cleaning going on to remove the built up grime on the brickwork and paint. It should look great when completed.
The other exciting news was that a recent Education Department audit of our Buildings and Grounds has unlocked $35,000 worth of much needed funding. This money will enable us to get some work done around the school that we previously thought we would have to fundraise for, so its great news. As someone who has been in the state school system for more than 10 years, it's really great to see the Department putting some much needed funds into existing school upgrades. This money will be allocated to the following projects:
- Painting the Multipurpose room (interior and external walls)
- Polishing of the Multipurpose Room floor
- Removal of a large tree damaging buildings near the music/art room
In addition to that, the plans for the new Sensory Building works planned for the Prep room are currently out for tender; we are hopeful to start seeing some action around this before the end of the year, but timings dependent on the Department process. (Updating this the tender has been granted and the works will begin in September)
Thanks all,
Karen Coulson
