Reconciliation Week
In Week 5 the Secondary School explored the importance of the Acknowledgement of Country. In year levels, students looked at a variety of resources and discussed how we can best work together towards reconciliation.
We finished the sessions with a chance to say the Acknowledgement of Country together and sing our School Hymn.
CANVAS
It’s LIVE! We were very excited to welcome parents to CANVAS this week!
Parents and caregivers received instructions to access Tyndale Community Portal and CANVAS Parent via email. CANVAS Parent gives parents and caregivers access to students’ due dates, grades and feedback. Content will vary between subjects and year levels as we use CANVAS to support and diversify the in-class teaching and learning.
I recommend changing your settings so you receive weekly notifications for the information of interest to you.
There can be a lot to navigate, so if you’d like some help, we will be running 2 sessions for parents and caregivers to access one-to-one assistance with CANVAS:
- Wednesday 24 June 2020, 5:15pm – 5:45pm in the Auditorium
- Thursday 2 July 2020, 5:15pm – 5:45pm in the Auditorium
Or via Zoom on
- Tuesday 23 June 2020, 6:00pm.
Please RSVP to NarelleKluge@tyndale.sa.edu.au to receive a link and password for the Zoom meeting.
Week 6 News
Over the past few weeks the members of the Year 8 class have had the opportunity to plant Bonsai seeds in agriculture and started exploring Energy Changes.
As part of their science practical they burnt different foods to learn which ones were able to release more energy. Interestingly the cashews contained the highest amount of energy when compared to other foods such as Tiny Teddies and Pasta. Please enjoy the photos of the students undertaking the practical in the laboratory.
This term the Year 7’s have started exploring classification, learning the different levels of classification from Kingdom all the way down to Species. As part of the learning they are required to research one vertebrate and one invertebrate, giving its classification and seeing identifying features that help us place it in that classification. It will be great to see what work they produce.

Music & Drama
The Yr 12s amazed their audience last week with their spectacular Solo Performances!
(It was even better than The Voice blind auditions!!!!)
I am so constantly amazed at the incredible store house of talent at Tyndale Strathalbyn.
I am so looking forward to our Talent Showcase in Term 3 😊
One of the greatest gifts I believe you can install in children is CONFIDENCE. Confidence is the feeling or belief that one can have faith in or rely on someone or something. FAITH is being confident (sure, expectant) of what we HOPE for.
Please parents, build your children’s confidence by praising, lifting, edifying and speaking life into them. Tell them you believe in them, that you’re proud of them, that you believe they will do wonderful things! Tell that voice that whispers fear, doubt, negativity and condemnation to be quiet.
You’ll feel so much better and so will they!

School Captains at Work
As a school leadership team, Kingsley Marston, Hamish Goodman, April Sierat and I decided that the most important goal to set for ourselves this year would be to create more opportunities for all year levels across the school to interact and connect with each other.
Navigating our way through the restrictions of Covid-19 had its challenges but over the last month, we have been working alongside the entire Student Leadership Team to initiate fun activities on Wednesday mornings in place of our usual fortnightly Chapel service.
Split off into pairs, we have been running everything from baking to board games, fitness activities to LEGO building, even problem solving and indoor games. Ranging from Years 7 to 12, students sign themselves up each fortnight for a new activity and are given the opportunity to socialise with each other from all across the high school.
Last Wednesday a few students and I were involved in a tense game of Uno stacker while others in the baking group were busy making delicious pancakes in the Home Economics room. A game of Kahoot was unfolding on one side of the School and on the other, a serious LEGO building competition.
While we look forward to the day that we can once again gather together as a Secondary School and have our chapel services, it has been a real blessing to spend Wednesday mornings in the company of peers whom are of all different ages and personalities.
