Principal's Message

At St Joseph’s Science learning and teaching aims to develop the scientific knowledge, skills and dispositions needed for successful lifelong learners, who can make informed decisions about local, national and global issues. We are so proud of all that we achieve in this most important area.

Last week our classes were alive with experiments galore as we celebrated Science Week in our school.

Preps showcased Science in Family Fun Friday and we thank Sally Taylor for showcasing her Science knowledge and expertise.

STEM Policy and overview

Part of our Science philosophy at our school centres around being stewards of the Earth. We engage in our Catholic community to take action as we listen to the cry of the earth and cry of the poor.

Taking a truly ground-up approach, it is rooted in the strengths and realities of communities around the world, empowering all to take “decisive action, here and now” as we journey towards a better future together. (LS 161)

Action is urgently needed. We are called as the human family to be the steward of creation, but we have neglected that call. Our hotter, dirtier, deader planet is driving up the risk of suffering. The most vulnerable suffer above all.

Pope Francis, through  Laudato Si’ Action ,encourages us to keep  walking the “path to renewal” together (LS 202). We do this through the Care for Creation program.

This week we celebrate Book week. The theme for 2022 is Dreaming with eyes open.

We look forward to a wonderful Book Day this Friday 19th August. Students will dress up as their favourite book character and participate in activities in their house groupings building a sense of engagement and connection for all students.

This Thursday we commence our Joey’s Club. Please invite any pre- school students you may know to the first session. This is a brilliant transition program that fully prepares our students for the commencement of their schooling in such a positive, supportive way.

Any interested families can just come along and try school without enrolling if they would like to attend.

Finally we wish our senior students all the best at the District Athletics this week.

Yours in Partnership,

Gab
