On Friday 9th September the Year 12 VCAL students planned a Dodgeball Competition for every student at GSSC to help raise awareness for Men’s Mental Health. At first we thought we were only going to have a small group and we were nervous about it to start with as there were about 25 students to fill up one of the courts in the gym! As it turned out we had to open the second court because, out of nowhere, a big group of students came in to play and have fun! We were so happy that everyone had a great time working as a team, lots of smiles and playing by the rules.
We loved hearing the positive feedback from the students and hopefully it will happen again next term! Tahnee, Robert & Nick
Year 11 VCAL students from Miss Essex, Miss Nicolopolous and Miss Ewart’s classes participated in a scavenger hunt, around Shepparton, for Personal Development Skills. We completed different tasks based on the community and organisations in Shepparton. This helped us learn about how our community works, to work as a group, and how we can get support in the future. On Tuesday 6th September the Year 12 VCAL PDS class were lucky enough to travel to Kyabram Fauna Park for a day of volunteering with Miss Essex. The activities including weeding the garden and washing animal equipment/ carriers. My group helped with weeding around the Quoll enclosures. The other group washed the animal carriers and the buckets for SPC, who donate all the fruit to the Fauna Park. After lunch we raked footpaths and tidied up. We were also lucky enough to meet Heidi the koala and have a pat. We also got to feed the emus which was a highlight for some. It was a great day and the weather was beautiful. Thank you Miss Essex for organizing a great activity for our class. Zoe Malcolm
