Year 6 camp

The Year 6 students attended camp this week. Mrs Crouch, the camp coordinator, has spent many hours ensuring organisation was in place for another successful camp. Despite a wet beginning on Monday camp goers did get to have some fine weather and a wonderful time was had.

I would like to thank our fabulous staff who attended camp and helped make this experience special for the students; Mrs Crouch, Mr Crouch, Mrs Gardin, Miss Lim, Mr Evans, Mr Chong, Mrs Chow, Mrs Lindley, Mrs Corbitt, Mr Heron, and Mr Ellis (who is on long term teaching prac).

Staffing

I would like to welcome Mrs Jacob to Burrendah for Term 4. Mrs Jacob will be teaching science on a Wednesday while Mrs Whitcher is on leave for Term 4.

I will be taking two weeks long service leave from tomorrow Friday 9th September.  Mr Bradshaw will be Principal while I am on leave.

New Undercover Area

The tender process for the undercover area is being completed with construction expected to begin either over the school break or at the beginning of Term 4.  Part of this work will be the removal of most of the senior basketball court.  Fencing will be in place for the construction area. Once the exact area is identified we will organise the bike racks near the sports shed requiring moving for safer access for students.

National Schools Opinion Survey (NSOS)

Every two years the NSOS survey requires completing for students, parents, and staff. As our last survey was in 2020 it is time for another survey to be completed.  A link will be sent to parents/carers in the first week of Term 4.  I encourage as many parents/carers as possible to complete this survey.  There will be two additional questions in the survey from the school board.

  1. What do we do well as a school community (what are our strengths)?
  2. What are Burrendah’s challenges and opportunities that need addressing over the next few years?

I ask that you take the time to think about these two questions over the next month and when the survey comes out, please provide your opinion.

Covid update

Covid cases at school have dropped to almost none.  To continue to keep our community safe, everyone is encouraged to isolate and test if feeling unwell with COVID-like symptoms. Please contact the school to notify us of a case of Covid or if a student is a close contact.

Regulations of Covid are easing as from tomorrow Friday 9th September.  For Burrendah PS the main change will be the reduction of the isolation period from 7 days to 5 days, if symptom free.
