Term 3 News
Winter is gone, Spring has come. Our first cohort of English Language Centre students (year 2022) have experienced a wide range of learning opportunities, formed many meaningful friendships, and thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the beautiful Collingwood College community throughout this term.
When they first arrived for their enrolment day at the start of Term 3, they have only been in Australia for less than a week. Feeling shy, reserved and unsure, these students quickly warmed up to each other after a visit to our Wurun Senior Campus, and also through the rounds of icebreakers that helped them to get to know their new classmates.

Our English Language students are, Hai Phan, My Tran, Isabella Chen Kiwamen, Phuong Nguyen, Thinh Nguyen, Tina Nguyen, Uyen Nhu Pham, Patthira Sachaiyan and Yawen Zhao. These students came equipped with great learning attitude, an eagerness to absorb everything that was taught, and demonstrated high level of work quality in their first 10 weeks of studies. Besides having Intensive English classes, they also have performing arts classes, electives, and weekly excursions. In their first 10 weeks, they have been on an Aboriginal Walking Trail, participated in education programs at Melbourne Museum for the First Nation Gallery, and Dino Day by Positive Start, went on a “Art- focused” excursion in the CBD, journeying through NGV, St Paul’s Cathedral, Hosier Lane, just to name a few. Our school also aims to create opportunities for our English Language Students to interact and connect with local students, therefore they were paired with their Buddies (from a pool of outstanding students from Collingwood College – Osgar Bryant, Azlan Jones-Amin, Emily Wu, Mackenzie Arnold and Aisha Eastwood). Together with the Buddies, our English Centre students have had a recess gathering session, and two excursions – a city excursion to State Library of Victoria and another to Melbourne Zoo. They were put into groups to complete scavenger hunts and activity booklets, and had ample opportunities to converse in English, and get to know their new friends better.
All in all, our English Language students have had a memorable start to their education journey here in Australia, specifically here at Collingwood College.
Let’s hear what they have to say…
How did you feel on your first day of attending Collingwood College?
What are the learning activities that you have enjoyed during your first ten weeks at Collingwood College?
What changes did you see in yourself, after 10 weeks of learning at the English Language Centre?
