Primary School

Dear Primary families

I wanted to share with you the wonderful time I had attending the sleepover camp onsite last night. Year 1/2 Main Program and Class 2 and 3 Steiner Program students participated in the sleepover camp.

The classrooms were set up with sleep mats, sleeping bags and pillows. Classroom windows were covered to keep out the morning light and a group of parents were onsite to help make afternoon tea and dinner. I'd like to sincerely thank all of the parents who gave up their time to support the teachers.

We had a few chefs in the kitchen and in classrooms making delicious food for all of the students.

We had a number of staff attend who helped with games, a beautiful campfire and general supervision.

The children were all at ease and enjoying each other’s company. It was really heartwarming to see. It is such a wonderful opportunity to provide our students with,  in preparation for staying away from home overnight.

Our camp program is a fantastic one and the sleepover camp provides an experience that alleviates any nervousness around future endeavours. It’s a tradition that we hold at Collingwood college and one that we felt sad about missing during the pandemic.

I have a few photos to share with you all. Enjoy them! It was a wonderful way to end the school term.

Have a fabulous term break, stay safe and I look forward to seeing you all on

Monday October 3rd at 8.45am.

BOOK WEEK CELEBRATIONS

Book Week Parade 2022

Wednesday, 24 August  @ 9:15am

The book week parade was on the asphalt basketball-netball court.

Margaret and Sormeh made an announcement at the start explaining how the parade would work.

The Prep children went first and from there it went in order from the youngest to oldest Primary School classes.

We shared with our classes what book characters we were dressed up as.

The Great Book Swap 2022

Thank you to everyone who donated the books for our Great Book Swap and everyone who bought them. The Great Book Swap was a great success again with $455.00 being raised. It is our seventh Book Swap and altogether we’ve donated more than $4,500. The funds will help buy 20,000 new culturally appropriate books for children in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

It was fabulous day in the library. Kids and adults had a good fun rummaging through the books. We’ll do it again next year.

Thanks

Alina Allery

Primary Reggio Dance Performances

Primary Performing Arts students worked in groups and choreographed dance pieces. These were performed in the Theatre for their families. It was special to see so many families attend this event and celebrate the achievements of the students.
