Week 10, Term 3

Reminders 

  • Home Reading Diaries must be checked each night and come to school Friday with a parent signature. Students will need to read a minimum of 20 minutes for 4 nights each week.
  • Homework - Week 1: Reading Diary (no Studyladder or Big Talk Homework)
  • Homework - Week 2: Reading Diary and Big Talk Homework 

Camp Kookaburra 

Our Grade 4s had an absolutely amazing time away at Camp Kookaburra! Thankyou so much to our parent helpers, Nigel Preston and Rick Coburn, for volunteering their time to assist - you were both greatly appreciated! Thankyou also to Caitlin Green for all of the fabulous and hard work she put into coordinating this event and to Brett Parkes and the rest of the Grade 3/4 team for their joint efforts both at school and on camp.

Well done to all of our Grade 3/4s for the fantastic work they have completed during Term 3. We hope that you all have an enjoyable and well deserved break over the school holidays and we look forward to seeing everyone back for Term 4! 

 

Check out some of our Term 3 highlights below:

Learning in Weeks 1 & 2

Mathematics: During our Fluid Maths Groups, we will be focusing on the topics of 'Multiplication' and 'Division'. We will also be looking at 'Shape' during our Applied Maths sessions and have fun exploring both 2D and 3D shapes. 

 

Writing & Reading: In Writing, students will be reviewing how to write a 'Recount' and take a deeper dive into the important features of this text type. Students will then have the opportunity to practise these new skills as they complete a Recount Big Write at the end of Week 2. In Reading, we will focus on recognising literary elements such as genre, plot, characters, setting, etc. in the texts we read.

 

Topic: Students will begin a new topic entitled 'Frame by Frame' where they will consider some of the different ways that people can show creativity. Throughout the term, students will also be set the task of creating a frame by frame animation - something that we are certain everyone will be very excited about!
