Principal's Report

by David Lord

Last Friday, we had our first whole school assembly in our new gym to farewell the year 12 class of 2022. Our school roared with appreciation and excitement as our year 12 students entered the gym wearing a variety of amazing costumes. We celebrated them in a number of ways including acknowledging:

  • Their importance as senior students in reviving our school culture after 2 years with much time off site
  • The important role they played as role models for the rest of the school
  • The way they drove involvement in our extra curricula activities such as sport, the production and our recent Cultural Picnic and Arts/Tech showcase.
  • The importance of the friendships they have developed at school and will carry into the rest of their lives
  • How much all of the adults in our Staughton Family care about them and the effort that parents and staff have put in to help them thrive.

Our student leadership program at Staughton is outstanding. This year’s leaders have again raised the bar. This is particularly true of our school captains Layth, Paige, Jade-Amanda and Kaley. The assembly concluded with heartfelt speeches from each of them celebrating their time at the school and thanking our Staughton Family for the support they have had. This was a terrific finale to a great event. I am very proud of what our graduating class has achieved in 2022.

We, at Staughton College, would like to show our respect and acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our school is situated, of elders past and present. We extend a warm welcome to everyone who visits our school.
