Health and Well-Being

Nutrition Week: 17-21 October

National Nutrition Week is 17-21 October. The focus is to inspire our community to “Get the most out of your veg.”  To promote Nutrition Week the Health and Wellbeing team and student parliamentarians have organised daily activities for students. Every day the Canteen will have Go Cups (vegetable sticks and a cheese stick) on sale for $2.00 and fruit cups for 50 cents. For this week they can be bought over the counter or via QKR as part of a lunch order. The parliamentarians will have a “Feely Box” where students can try to guess the vegetable, a nutrition trivia quiz and a “Where’s Broccoli” that will be hidden in a different location around the school each day. The “Hole in the Wall” will take place on Thursday and we have a special Market Stall on Friday at lunch time. Students have an opportunity to buy a taster plate for $1.50. On the plate there is a vegie dumpling, polenta chips and cheesy puff (mac and cheese in pastry). Students can then vote for their favourite item.  At recess on Friday, there will be FREE taste testing of Vegie “sausage” rolls and Vegie burgers.

Cooking Collective Opportunities in Term 4

As part of Nutrition Week celebrations, The Health and Well-being Team are planning a taste testing day for all students. Our awesome Cooking Collective parent volunteers will be back in the kitchen to make this all possible and are looking for volunteers to join during any of the following dates and times:

  • Friday 7 October, 10.30am – 1pm (cooking session)
  • Tuesday 18 October, 10.30am – 1pm (cooking session)
  • Friday 21 October, 11am – 2.30pm (heating and serving food to students as part of Nutrition Week activities)

Even if you can help for just an hour, any time you can give is always appreciated (and no cooking experience is required!). If you are keen to join the fun with other parents/carers, please contact Belinda.vaughan@each.com.au for more details.

Stay safe,
