STUDENT OVERDUE LIBRARY BOOKS

Could I please remind students and parents that everyone is able to login to Oliver V5 (our school cataloguing system) to check the books you have on loan. As previously advised access to Oliver is through Compass. Please try to keep your loans up to date as we have at present, a large number of overdue library books. If you locate any Rowville Primary School library books or classroom readers please return them to your classroom “library returns tub” or you can place them in the “returns trolley” in the 21st Century Learning Space. Overdue lists are given to classroom teachers on a regular basis. If you have any enquiries regarding missing or lost resources, please let me know as soon as possible. I am here to help! Thank you.

SCHOLASTIC BOOKCLUB

The brochures for Scholastic Bookclub Issue 7 were distributed to classes on Monday 10th October, 2022 – one per student. The front page has the titles available this issue under the heading “Every child deserves a book.” The five titles: When Henry Caught Imaginitis, Stories to Share at Christmas, Have Yourself a Mouldy Minecraft Christmas, Gigglers Christmas Jokes and Where’s Santa? They cost $3.00 each. These titles would make lovely Christmas stocking fillers!

There’s a great selection of books this issue. To mention a few, Bookclub have the new edition from Andy Griffiths Treehouse series: The 156-Storey Treehouse, $14.50. Page 8 has the 2022 bestsellers, there are some titles to scare you for Halloween, as well as lots of books from popular children’s series like Ella and Olivia, Babysitters Club, Bad Guys, Minecraft Zombies, Hot Dog, Dog Man, Pokemon, Weirdo, Ella Diaries, Dragon Girls, Tom Gates and lots, lots more.

Remember that every dollar spent on Scholastic Bookclub enables us to order books for our school. It’s a win-win situation so that everyone can enjoy some new books to read. The orders for Bookclub Issue 7 are due by Monday 17th October, 2022.

WILD LIFE by Leisa Stewart-Sharpe

I recently came across a September new release called Wild Life: The Extraordinary Adventures of Sir David Attenborough written by Leisa Stewart-Sharpe. I have admired David Attenborough’s lifetime achievements and the way he can inspire all of us to do better by caring for our planet. David Attenborough the Naturalist, Historian, Broadcaster, Conservationist, Documentary maker, Author, and Presenter.

This book is a must read picture book highly suitable for primary school aged children. We follow David’s life from the age of eight when he received a Fire Salamander for his eighth birthday. He was fascinated by nature and curious to learn about everything. The book takes us on David’s journey through jungles, grasslands, coral reefs, African plains, icy poles. It follows his TV career, his footprint to the world and of his mission to protect it. David Attenborough continues to raise awareness and make a difference. This book is inspirational and like the title says he has lead a truly Wild Life! Highly recommended.

Thank you to Mrs Welti and Rachel C. for your recent book donations to our school. We received some new copies of the Harry Potter series, some books on Amazing Animals, some Dr Seuss titles and many others. Our students will enjoy reading them. Thank you very much.
