Welcome Jo Kuzma – Student Wellbeing Coordinator

A very warm welcome to our new Student Wellbeing Coordinator, Jo Kuzma, who started her role with us at the beginning of this term. Jo has settled in really well and hit the ground running, building partnerships with local agencies and getting to know our staff and students. Please pop into our Wellbeing Centre to introduce yourself to Jo!

Year 7 Welcome Night – Thursday 17 November 2022 6pm – Balook building

The Year 7 Welcome Night will provide the opportunity for parents and students to find out additional information regarding the transition into Year 7, meet the Junior School staff, and submit all the required documentation prior to your son or daughter commencing at the College in 2023. If required, Chinese, Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Burmese interpreters can be organised to assist with the translation of information. Please let us know via email if you would like to book an interpreter.

Year 6 Taster Day – Tuesday 13 December 2022

Orientation Day for all Grade 6 students entering Year 7 in 2023 will be held on Tuesday 13th December 2022, from 9:00am to 3:00pm. The day will begin in the Balook Learning Centre, Rosebank Avenue, at 8:45am and your child can be collected from the same venue at 3pm. Students may wear their primary school uniform for the day. They should bring a packed lunch, a snack, a bottle of water, and pens/pencils.

On Orientation Day, Parents and carers are invited to a morning tea and a brief information session conducted by the Assistant Principal and Principal at 9:00am. This is a casual event and all families are welcome to attend and meet with key personnel who will work closely with your child during their first year at Westall SC.

Student leadership day – St Kilda FC

On Thursday 9 October, our student leaders attended a leadership day at The Saints headquarters in Moorabbin. The morning session, led by Hannah Priest (AFLW Captain), focused on what ‘fills our buckets’ and how we understand and lead others. The remainder of the day focused on community leadership projects: a reflection on 2022 and a plan for 2023, concluding with students making elevator pitches to the group.  A fantastic opportunity for our leaders, big thanks to Ms Vasilakis for organising the day!

Clayton North Year 5 Taster Day

On Wednesday 12 October, we welcomed the Year 4/5 cohort from Clayton North Primary School for their Westall Taster day. Students enjoyed an EDI lesson, an Aim High Food Technology or STEM workshop, and the opportunity to choose an iCreate subject for the afternoon. Thanks to Clayton North PS for their enthusiasm and to the WSC teachers for running the day.
