Assistant Principal's Report
Mrs Sue Simadri
We are delighted to inform our learning community that we will be holding our Semester 2 Awards Assembly, onsite, in our Sports Gym, this year! Please mark this date on your calendar - Thursday 24th November, commencing at 10:15am.
Teachers and students are busy completing assessments and preparing feedback. Reports will be available in Compass on Monday 12th December. A reminder that the semester report provides an indication of the Learning Behaviours demonstrated by your child in the second half of the year, as well as a summary of the Learning Task grades; detailed feedback on assessments is available in the individual learning tasks in Compass.
Another event to mark in your calendar - Thursday, 24th November, at 6pm - the college is planning a graduation event to congratulate the Class of 2022 on this day. This event will be held at the Clayton Church of Christ, 24 Burton Avenue, Clayton.
We are looking forward to having all Year 12 students attend and be formally farewelled by the school principals and Senior School teachers and leaders. To ensure that we are all in a position to enjoy the event comfortably, we request families to consider how many members attend the event; our suggestion is two family members for each student. We appreciate your support with this.
Students will commence their 2023 classes on Monday, 28th November. They will be following their new timetables. Year 11/12 classes will run for one week, finishing on Friday 2nd December. Year 8-10 Headstart will run until Friday 9th December.
Attendance during the Headstart period is compulsory. Students are required to attend in full school uniform and with all required equipment (with the exception of textbooks), to enable their full participation in classroom activities.
Year 11/12 VCE students will commence course material and work towards their first assessment. They will be issued with holiday homework, which must be completed and submitted to subject teachers on their return to school next year. Headstart will enable a seamless transition from one year to the next, providing students with a substantial understanding of the requirements in all subjects.
Re-enrolment for all students returning to Westall SC in 2023 will be an online process. Families will receive an email in the next two weeks, which will contain information and instructions that need to be urgently actioned. Email attachments will include current enrolment details, which must be carefully checked, updated as needed, and, returned via email or as a hard copy to the office.
Also attached will be the following documents:
On the 2023 booklists, you will notice a section titled 'Required by All Students' at the very top of each year-level list of textbooks - this is to provide families with a clear understanding of the basic items all students need to ensure they are able to participate in activities, engage in their learning, and experience success in the classroom. All of these items will be available to purchase individually on the Campion website; to make this a little easier and to support families, the 'Required by All Students' items will be available to purchase as a pack, from the school, at a much-reduced cost. Families are encouraged to take advantage of this option.
If you have any questions regarding the process or need clarification on the instructions, please contact the office at 9546 3233. In the event that your child will not be returning to Westall next year, a letter must be forwarded to the appropriate sub-school as soon as possible.
