What's been happening @ MPS?

Footsteps Dance:

Our students have been incredibly enthusiastic about this term's Dance Program! There has certainly been a great level of energy on a Monday - thanks Mrs Kechayas for organising such an engaging program in your absence!

Playground update:

Our new stage and playground update has added another dimension to our play times at MPS. We have been thrilled to see a range of new activities and ideas inspired by these new areas. The success of this year's fundraising efforts have made this possible and I thank everyone for their contribution to our school in this way.  From our combined fundraising efforts to date, the school has raised approximately $20,000 and all of these funds have contributed towards the upgrades, with the school supplementing the remainder of the costs. We are very fortunate as we have a number of parents with particular skills and expertise, so this has enabled us to keep costs at a  minimum.  Thank you!

There are still a few fundraising activities still to come on the calendar, so please continue to support MPS. Once we have completed the areas at the front of the school, we will be planning to develop the vacant area near the path/staff car park! Exciting times!

Please note: Planting day for the new play spaces will be on SUNDAY 8th SEPTEMBER.

Parent Opinion Survey:

Some of you would have received an email in regards to the completion of a survey that was generated by the Department of Education and Training (DET).  We would love as many parents as possible to respond to the online survey as the information received is useful as we plan for our future.  Sunday 11th August is the last day to complete the survey! Let's get the below stats (current as of 07/08/19) looking a bit better! :)

The total number of survey invitations distributed to the MPS community = 80  families.

So far,

  • 30 parent survey responses have been completed
  • With a 38% response rate

100 Days of School:

Congratulations to our Foundation students who celebrated 100 days at school earlier in the week! Congrats to our parents too, for ensuring that our students come to school with a mindset, ready to learn!

Year 3/4 Camp:

I had the privilege of visiting our 3/4 students at camp yesterday. What joy! The enthusiasm, the sense of fun, of "giving things a go" was palpable. The learning in these types of environments cannot be underestimated.  Thank you to our amazing staff that attended - the preparation before the camp is an enormous task, as well as the energy required to keep up with our students! Thanks also to the staff for leaving their own families to care for our kids, 24/7!

What is coming up @ MPS?

Daffodil Day:

Next Friday 16th August, we will be supporting 'Daffodil Day'. Students are encouraged to wear yellow to show their support and bring a gold coin donation. All money raised will be donated to the Cancer Council.

Student-led Conferences:

Please note: Tuesday 10th September has been approved as an "Adjusted School Day".  Children are notrequired to attend school on this day (Camp Australia care will be available). Prior to this day, students will be spending time in class preparing for the 'student-led conference'. This is a fabulous opportunity to celebrate student growth and plan future learning goals. Students are expected to attend their specific interview time (20 mins will be allocated) with their parents/carers. Stay tuned for booking information.
