Year 3 Author Visit and Landsdale Farm Excursion

Alison Lester and Jane Godwin Visit
During Term 1, AISWA funded a visit from authors and illustrators Alison Lester and Jane Godwin. Unfortunately they were only able to come to one classroom. When the children of 3N found out they were chosen to work with them, they were so excited. Mrs. Price brought down every book she had in the library that Alison Lester and Jane Godwin have written and illustrated so we could read them. The children found out what is involved in making a children’s picture book. Then they worked collaboratively to produce a large artwork about living underwater. Their artwork and photos are displayed in the library.

Landsdale Farm Excursion
To support our science studies of living and non-living things, Year 3 students went to Landsdale Farm to see the animals. We were given a talk by Farmer Ellice (Mrs. Neaves’ daughter) who told us all about the animals on the farm. Farmer Ellice showed us what it is like to work as a farmer as she cleaned out the pigs’ drinking trough, fed different animals, picked up lots of animal poo and fixed up broken fences and enclosures. She even let out the sheep and goats for us to pat. At the end of our visit, we went to the garden to feel and smell different plants that grow on the farm.
