Foundation and Year 1/2
As part of our Inquiry unit on 'Community' this term, we have been discussing what types of places are in our local community, and what each place's purpose is. Some of the places brainstormed include our school, parks, doctor's office, police station, the Preston Market, Darebin library and local cafes/restaurants. To link this with our Discovery learning, we have set up two new exciting role-play stations. We now have a Beauty Shop and a Farmers Market in our F-2 Discovery space! The students have thoroughly enjoyed exploring these two new spaces, and have been working together to assign roles such as receptionist, customer and store assistant.
Next Tuesday we will be going on a field study walk around the local Preston area, to discover more places that are in our community.
Year 2/3
On ANZAC day we remember the soldiers who fought for our country and sacrificed their life for us to make us have freedom. I think that the soldiers were very brave. I also love the ANZAC biscuits because they are very tasty. Kushi
The soldiers fought for us so we could have a very good life. We say “Lest we forget” because it means that we will always remember them. Eva
I like those ANZAC cookies that we eat on ANZAC day because they taste very good and they remind me that it is ANZAC day when the soldiers went to the war. Sometimes I pick some flowers and make them into a wreath and put them in my room. They also remind me of the people that died. Georgia
ANZAC day is an important day when we remember the soldiers that have fought and died in World War 1 that happened in 1914. I think those soldiers were brave, trying their best to fight for their country and for freedom. Shamus
My grandad was an ANZAC. The soldiers fought and died for us where there were poppies. They fought and died for us so we can have freedom. Arvin
On ANZAC day, we remember the fallen soldiers that died for us in the war. This ANZAC day at the dawn service, there were 40,000 people surrounding the shrine and the eternal flame. Katelina
ANZAC day is a really important day because the soldiers fought for us and we think and pray for them. People wake up at predawn and go into the city where the shrine is. We can go to where the eternal flame is. 40 000 people were there this year. We say “Lest we forget” for them. Emma
Year 3/4
Year 5/6
Welcome back! After a most fantastic (and exhausting) Year 5/6 camp it was great to see all students return this week. We were able to celebrate Easter with a egg hunt and a taste of those scrumptious Hot Cross Buns. Thanks to the P & F for organising!
2023 CAMP Reflections....
Some thoughts....
Philip island is the best place to see the Penguins and Koalas, they were all so cute. I was scared at the slide at A Maze N Things but I would do it again! (Michael)
My favourite part of camp was A Maze N Things, the maze was awesome and my team came second! Also I loved the Penguin parade, there was so many we named one Jeffery (Jacob)
My highlight of camp was surfing at the beach, I felt like I had a rush of fun and felt good vibes from everyone. (Alex)
My favourite part of camp was surfing because it was super fun and I got to ride the biggest waves ever! My second favourite thing was the Mini Golf but I had a slight hic up and lost my golf ball in hole 9. PS: The food was AMAZING! (Zane)
One of the moments I will never forget about Philip island is when I went to A Maze N Things and went down a 180 angled slide. IT WAS TERRIFYING (Amelia)
I liked the Mini Golf activity and how we had some great times there laughing and made some good memories. (Ethan)
The most memorable memory at camp was when I got to my knees on the surf board and was about to stand up........ then Lily crashed into me. (Chen)
I loved surfing so much the thrill of standing up on the board is life changing. At one point the surfing instructor took me out further into the sea to get a bigger wave and it took me off my board and gave me fright. But I still loved it. (Ishe)
Penguin Parade and Surfing are the top two activities in my camp experience because during the parade we stayed up late and saw the penguins in a massive group coming from the sea. When we got comfortable with the surf boards we could try and stand up and I loved the challenge and the giggles. (Onella)
I will always remember how amazing getting up on the surf board was, the experience was so relaxing and adventurous. Being able to try something new evolves my body. (Enock)
