For Australia, a new nation with a relatively small population, the death of 60,000 soldiers during World War I was catastrophic.

Ross McMullin wanted to find out some of the personal stories behind the huge numbers. He focused on ten outstanding soldiers - among them an architect, a winemaker, a footballer and a medical researcher of international acclaim.

Ross' book is called: Farewell Dear People: Biographies of Australia's Lost Generation. Dr McMullin also wrote the award-winning Pompey Elliott.

Hear Ross speak about the book that won the 2013 Prime Minister’s Literary Award.

Signed copies of Ross’ books will be available for purchase.
