Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

THANKYOU AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS

We have come to the end of a very busy term. It seems to have flown by but there was so much achieved in that time.

The Warrnambool Primary Parents Association were very active in supporting fund raising events and activities for us to enjoy at school.

Consider the following events which were not only fun but have raised money to be put towards our much needed Basketball/Netball Court:

Colour Run, Easter Raffle, Hot Cross Bun Drive and Cultural Gardens Opening/School Picnic.

They have some great activities lined up for Term 2 so please continue to support them in their efforts once again. Without the donations of time and money from our parent group these events wouldn’t proceed so thank-you all.

I would also like to thank the School Council for joining or continuing to join in activities across the school.

The Buildings and Grounds sub-committee were very pleased with the turn-out at the Working Bee this term. There is another one scheduled in July and I know we always have new jobs added to the list.

I hope you have a fantastic Easter break and get an opportunity to spend some quality time with your family and friends.

DISTRICT ATHLETICS

Well Done to Cherine Owen and the other staff who attended the District Athletics with our wonderful student Athletes.

From all reports Warrnambool Primary School did a great job participating and conducting themselves in an exemplary manner.

There are some great pictures on our Facebook page if you would like to take a look.

I would like to congratulate all students who made the team and those who were able to proceed to the next level of championships.

PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Thank-you to our hard working teachers who prepared for and conducted the Parent Teacher Interviews this week.

I would also like to thank all the parents/carers for attending.

We know that communication between teacher and parent is vital to the development of children.

If you were unable to attend for any reason we think it is important to be in touch with your child’s teacher to get the best understanding of their life at school and the level of their outcomes.

We will re-schedule Parent Teacher Interviews in Term 2 for the two classes affected by staff absence this week.

FOUNDATION INFORMATION NIGHT- Monday 1st May 2023 at 5.30pm

We would love to see as many prospective parents as possible at our Foundation Information Night on Monday 1st May 2023 at 5:30pm in the Infant Gym

If you already have children at the school or if you know someone who has a child about to commence Foundation in 2024 please come along and encourage them to also.

We will share information about the first year of school, a day in the life of a Foundation child at Warrnambool Primary School and outline some of the great programs we offer.

WHOLE SCHOOL OPEN NIGHT - Tuesday 16th May 5.30pm

We are excited to announce our whole school open night on Tuesday 16th May. This will give our family and the wider Warrnambool Community an opportunity to visit each of the classrooms and specialist areas and see all the great programs here at Warrnambool Primary School. The Parents Association will be putting on a Sausage Sizzle at the BER from 5pm and we will also have a presentation and lucky door prize at 6.15pm in the BER. Please let all your friends and family know and we look forward to seeing you all there.

CROSSING THE ROAD - JAMIESON STREET

Please take care and ensure that all parents/carers, and siblings use the school crossings in Jamieson Street during our very busy drop off and collection period. We simply cannot afford to have any accidents for any of our community members.

There are lights at Raglan Parade, a School Crossing in Jamieson Street and at the intersection of Canterbury Road which are all manned by our wonderful crossing supervisors. These crossings all provide a safe way of travel when crossing the roads. Thank you for your co-operation.

RETURN DATES TERM 2- 2023

We return to school on Monday 24th April 2023 for one day before the ANZAC Public Holiday on Tuesday 25th April 2023. School will then resume on Wednesday 26th April 2023.

We are holding an ANZAC Ceremony at school on Monday 24th April 2023 at 10.30am. This will be led by our student leaders.

On ANZAC DAY itself Mr Fraser, Mrs Toone and myself will accompany our student leaders at the wreath laying ceremonies at the Warrnambool Community Memorial opposite the RSL.

There are two services one at Dawn at 5.30am and the Mid-Morning parade.

It is a day to commemorate the sacrifice that our men and women in the service have and continue to do on our behalf. It is also a strong learning experience for our students.

Have a wonderful break, stay safe, be kind and see you all for an exciting Term 2!
