Year Six

Dear Year Six Families,

Welcome back for Term Two!

We hope everyone had a nice relaxing break and are excited for another jam-packed term of learning and experiences.

INQUIRY

This week students have been investigating the benefits of social media. Through their inquiry, students have discovered how social media can be used positively to educate themselves and others. As a part of their inquiry, students also delved into how successful businesses market themselves on social media platforms as well as what jobs are available in this field. They had the opportunity to plan their own business ideas and design social media posts for their products. Additionally, students created apps for their business ideas, which gave them an exciting chance to think creatively and apply their technological skills. Seeing the students engage in thought-provoking and practical learning experiences was inspiring.

ATHLETICS DAY

The Year 5/6 Athletics Day was a huge success! The sun was shining and the students had a fantastic time competing in a range of events including the high jump, triple jump, 100 metres sprint and shot put. There was a real sense of house spirit as students cheered each other on and competed to earn points for their house. Congratulations to Freeman House who took out first place, followed by Goolagong House, Vander-Kuyp House, and Goodes House. It was a great day filled with friendly competition and lots of fun. Well done to all the students who participated!

NEW STAFF MEMEMBER - 6F

We are excited to welcome Ravleen Singh to our Grade Six teaching team. Mrs Singh is a kind and energetic person who is in her first year of teaching. She will be taking over 6F from Sarah Grenfell and we believe she will be a great addition to the Grade Six team. We are thrilled to have her on board and look forward to seeing the positive impact she will have on our students.

ANZAC DAY

The whole school gathered in the gymnasium on ANZAC Day to commemorate the bravery and sacrifice of Australian and New Zealand servicemen and women. The solemn event was marked by a whole school assembly where the school community reflected on the significance of ANZAC Day. The occasion was made even more special with the presence of a special guest, Warrant Officer Luke Sweeny, who spoke to the students about the importance of the day and its significance in Australian history. Warrant Officer Sweeny's heartfelt talk resonated deeply with the students and staff, reminding everyone of the courage and sacrifice shown by those who served and continue to serve our country. The ANZAC Day assembly was a poignant reminder of the importance of remembering and honouring our national heroes.
