Year Four

Dear Year 4 families,

A warm welcome back to Term Two!

The students have had a busy start to the term but everyone is eager to delve into more learning.

Unit of Inquiry

As we near the end of our second Unit of Inquiry, students are in the process of planning and drafting their persuasive text related to an environmental issue that is important to them.

They have been learning about different persuasive writing techniques used by authors to convey their message while exploring how different persuasive techniques can be used to convince the audience. Students have researched and gathered information about their given topic, taken notes and applied it to their writing.

It was wonderful to see students engaging and sharing their opinions about such a controversial topic while developing their empathy for understanding that everyone's opinion is valuable.

Numeracy

For the past two weeks, students have been focusing on data representation and interpretation. Students looked at different ways of collecting data and using the appropriate graphs to represent the information collected. Additionally, they are developing their understanding of reading the information presented in the graphs and evaluating the different data displayed.

ANZAC Day

We held a commemorative ANZAC service on the 24th of April. Throughout the day, students participated in ANZAC activities to deepen their understanding of this significant day. There was a special assembly at the end of the day where student listed to a reading by the visiting RAAF Warrant Officer and wreaths were laid by students of each year level. Students were very respectful when the last post was played during the minute of silence and paid their respects to the past and present service men and women who fought for our nation.
