The Woodwind Soiree

This week, VSC Instrumental Music Program held their annual 'Woodwind Soiree' hosted by Ms. Liz Clark and Mr. Ben Muddyman. Students learning Flute, Saxophone, Oboe, Clarinet and Bassoon all performed pieces in front of a packed audience of supportive parents and friends from the college community. A mix of solo, duo and trio pieces accompanied by Mr. Muddyman on the piano made for a terrific blend of styles and throughout the night. 

We'd like to thank everyone who came along to support the event for giving the students the experience of performing their repertoire for an attentive audience. Thank you to Ms. Clark and Mr. Muddyman for their work throughout the year so far. 

The VSMF (Victorian Schools Music Festival)

This year, we are proud to announce that both our Concert Band and Symphonic Band, plus our Senior Strings Orchestra have been invited to take part in the Victorian Schools Music Festival held at The Hawthorn Town Hall. This event is always highly engaging for students allowing them an opportunity not only to perform in front of other Victorian School bands, but to hear some constructive feedback and be given some tutorial from some of the countries finest band conductors.

The Annual Spring Concert

This year, for the very first time, we have made the difficult decision to run our Annual Spring Concert over 2 consecutive nights. Our program has grown rapidly and with that, so have our audiences. We encourage all parents to come along and see your child perform in what will be for some, their final formal performance for the year. 

Our new format will run as follows:

Wednesday 6/09 - Junior and Senior Stage Band, Guitar Ensembles, Choir, Drum Club

Thursday 7/09 - Rookie Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Junior & Senior Strings Orchestra  and Chamber Strings. 

We will release tickets for these two shows within the coming week.

Tuesday 1st August - Library Concert for Guitar students. 

Thursday 3rd August - Stage Band travel to Knox Parish for 'Soup & Singing' event. 

Wednesday 23rd August - Symphonic Band VSMF (Hawthorn Town Hall)

Thursday 24th August - Concert Band VSMF (Hawthorn Town Hall)

Wednesday 6th September - The Annual Spring Concert
