Dear Parent

The Secondary School Immunisation Program (SSIP) offers free vaccines provided through the National Immunisation Program (NIP) for all Year 7 and Year 10 students. Your child may have missed these vaccinations given at school over the past 3 years due to absence or Covid disruptions.

The vaccines that your child should have received:

Year 7 –       Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis

                       Human Papillomavirus

Year 10 -      Meningococcal ACWY

Please note: For students attending Year 10 in 2023, Council may not have attended your school as yet for immunisation. Please ensure you return the consent card if you wish for your child to receive vaccinations on this day. If council has already attended your school for vaccinations and consent was not provided, please contact the number below to book an appointment.

If you are unsure of your child’s immunisation status you can check their Immunisation History by following these simple steps

  1. Sign into your myGov account at https://my.gov.au or calling the Australian Immunisation Register on 1800 653 809
  2. Go to Medicare
  3. Select View History - You and your child/ren under 14 on your Medicare card will show up here.

Please note children over 14 years need to sign into their own myGov account.

If your child has not completed the vaccinations or you are unsure, please contact Council’s Environmental Health Unit on 9262 6197 to book an appointment. Session details are on Whitehorse City Council’s website.

Yours sincerely
