Active For Life

On Thursday 22nd June, our Active for Life class finished the semester with our final excursion to Hardrock Rock climbing venue in Nunawading. We had two instructors who taught students how to belay and how to tie correct figure eight knots to safely climb walls as high as 20m tall with varying levels of difficulties.

I was so impressed to witness the student's confidence build throughout the session as well as the encouragement and support they provided to one another. I had conversations with students who said that they didn't think they would be able to achieve what they did in that session. This was just another example of the resilience this group has shown during each excursion where they stepped outside of their comfort zone.

We have been learning about the benefits, enabler and barriers of physical activity in this subject and it was great to see so many students overcome some individual barriers they felt before today's session. I was extremely proud of our students and have thoroughly enjoyed teaching them.
