From The Principal

PRINCIPALS MESSAGE

Friday 28th July, 2023

Dear parents and carers,

We are now well into term 3 and looking forward to a productive term. We have a number of incursions and excursions planned along with opportunities for family involvement.

Staff News

Welcome and good luck in your new roles to Cherie Sorrenti (Occupational Therapist – M, W, Fr), Tahlia Kerger (Education Support Foundation Blue – Th, Fr) and Junior Secondary Blue Teachers (Claire Prewer – M, Justine Stephen – Tu- Fr). Claire has been a regular CRT at our school whilst Justine is an experienced specialist teacher transferring from Barwon Valley School.

Building Project Updates

Our inclusive playground development in the Early Primary yard is progressing. Designs and equipment items have been confirmed and contractors are now to be appointed. We expect these works to be undertaken in the January 2024 holidays. An architect has been appointed for our other project, an all weather cover over the basketball/netball courts. The next step will be creation of draft designs for this installation.

Student Attendance

A reminder if students are away then a reason must be provided that is approved by the principal. We also ask where possible students arrive on time so they can be part of their regular morning program in their classroom.

Principal Leave

I will be taking a period of Long Service Leave from Monday 21st August to Monday 28th August to travel interstate for a short break with family. Ashley Kalkandis will be Acting Principal during this time, supported by the School Leadership team.

Parent/Caregiver /Guardian Annual Opinion Survey

WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents / caregivers / guardians think of our school. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional but we encourage all families to participate.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the survey period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open from Monday 7 August to Friday 8 September 2023. All families are invited to participate in the survey.

Please speak to a member of the principal class team if you would like more information.

Have a great week-end everyone,

Regards,

Suzanne Armstrong

Principal
