Legally Blonde: The Musical – College Production Update

The cast and production team have been tirelessly rehearsing for the College Production of Legally Blonde the Musical over the last term and a half. 

The cast are certainly “keep[ing] it positive” as they have launched into dance rehearsals led by past student Rarnee Boyd who is excited to be on the other side of the production team by making her debut choreographing role with Viewbank College. 

Each lead cast and ensemble member are, as the students would say, “slaying” their roles. The cast, led by the extremely talented Elena Tsiounis as Elle Woods are following direction from Katrina Wellins exceptionally well and are really showcasing vibrant acting skills on stage with enthusiasm and pizzaz. 

The ensemble is working superbly together and are really cohesive as a group, making scenes look larger than life. 

The college production is an incredible opportunity for students to work on a long-term project that teaches important social and emotional skills such as collaboration, resilience, and organisational skills. Plus, the reward of staging a musical that has a message of determination and optimism lasts a lifetime for many of our students. 

This was even seen in our social night where students bonded together over trivia, pizza and a fierce lip-sync battle hosted by the students. 

It has been a pleasure being Production Manager of my first Viewbank College production and I look forward to many more in the future. Our students in the production cast and crew are a group of self-driven, respectful young people who create magic on stage as well as behind the scenes. I’d also like to recognise the incredible work of Andrew Van Gemert who is leading our student band, Benjamin Mogford our technical director who puts hours into the behind the scenes work such as building our set and Caitlin Brown and Jess Chong who are leading our art and make-up crews.
