Resource Smart School Awards

Last Thursday, Viewbank College was invited to the Resource Smart Awards and Showcase as a finalist school in the ‘Community leadership School of the year’ Category.

The event was held at the prestigious Betty Cuthbert Lounge, Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Dr Ann Jones of ABC was the host and attended by various dignitaries including the Minster for Environment and Early Childhood education Ingrid Stitt, the interim CEO of sustainability Victoria.

The day started with our students very excitedly putting up posters and getting their stall ready.

Dr Ann Jones spent considerable amount of time talking to our students and Maya Cotton was specially interviewed.

While we did not win, our students worked very hard in showcasing their many initiatives in sustainability especially in the lead up managing all their other commitments and school work as it was so close to the exams.

The whole team of YPPP and Sustainability is to be congratulated including students who could not attend.

Also, huge thanks to Mazzy Murray and Charis Ooi who also attended the event and supported the students and to Darren Murray, Vita Cottone and Rachael Smith who have been supporting and guiding the team.

The students came back with renewed energy and ideas from other schools to implement at Viewbank College.
