Language Arts

Over the past few weeks, our Year 3 students have been immersed in the enchanting world of poetry. They have learned about various poetic forms, including rhythms, descriptive language and the poet's writing process. With great enthusiasm, they let their imagination soar as they crafted their own poems on a wide range of themes, from nature and animals to friendship and family. Through this unit, our young poets have not only developed their creative writing skills but have also learned the power of self-expression and the beauty of language.

In addition to the poetry unit, our Foundation students have been exploring personal experiences through the written word. They have embarked on a captivating journey of writing true stories that are close to their hearts. These stories come from their own lives and showcase the unique experiences and adventures they have encountered so far. By delving into their personal narratives, our Foundation students are not only developing themselves as authors and their writing abilities, but they are also gaining a deeper understanding of themselves and their emotions. It is inspiring to witness their growth as they transform their thoughts and memories into engaging and meaningful stories.

We are incredibly proud and in awe of all our students for their dedication, creativity, and engagement in Reader’s and Writer’s Workshops. Through these units, our receptive and expressive readers and writers have not only developed their writing and reading skills, but they have also fostered a love for language and storytelling. We look forward to sharing more next term and witnessing their continued growth as they explore the diverse world of literature and continue to express themselves through the written word.

As always, we encourage you to read with your children every night and engage in conversations, encouraging them to share their stories with you. You could also even create your own family poetry nights or storytelling sessions. Together, let us celebrate the magic of words and the power of personal expression.
