National Science Week

On Thursday, 18th August (Week 6) students will be designing and creating a 'Rube Goldberg machine' in celebration of National Science Week. For this task, students will need access to a variety of different moveable building materials such as dominoes, marbles, cans, blocks, balls, straws and tubing. If you have any of these kinds of materials at home, please send them along in Week 6 to assist your child/ren in completing this fun activity - thankyou!

Around the Classroom....

Students (and staff) have settled back into the classroom after a fabulous time away at camp. Here are some pictures of us working hard across multiple different subjects.

Learning in Weeks 5 & 6

Mathematics: After completing our unit on 'Multiplication', students will be exploring 'Time' in our Fluid Maths groups this fortnight. We will also be looking at 'Patterns and Algebra' during our weekly Applied Maths sessions and consider how number patterns are formed using addition, subtraction and multiplication.

Writing & Reading: Students have worked hard to wrap up our unit on Narrative writing with a piece on "The day a space ship landed on the school oval!" This fortnight we will move on to Informative Writing with a focus on researching different disabilities. In Reading, we will explore how to summarise both non-fiction and fiction texts.

Topic: Having been introduced to a variety of different disabilities so far this term, students will completing a project over the next fortnight with the aim to gain a deeper understanding about their chosen disability. Some of the questions they will be answering in this research task include:

  • What is this disability?
  • What challenges does someone with this disability face?
  • What aids are available to assist someone living with this disability?
