German Specialist Events

Guten Tag to all Spring Gully Primary school families. I am very thrilled to be at the school again and very much enjoying the the stimulation and challenge of bringing die deutsche Sprache alive to your children.

It is disappointing that we were not able to participate in the Annual A.G.T.V. German Poetry Competition this year due to the timing of both my commencement at the school, at the year 3/4 and 5/6 camps. In place of this opportunity we are conducting an internal school-based poetry competition.  All students from Grades 4 to 6 have been introduced to the poem selection for the year level in their German class and will be choosing one of these as their favoured poem to learn to recite.  This is part of our speaking and listening skill focus for German and our lesson time set to prepare for this recital goal.

Please help support your child by helping them to access a padlet of recorded poem recitals sent on Google Classroom. By listening to their chosen poem on this padlet and practicing the reading/speaking of it, students ought to be able to develop a near native skill level. Just think of the capacity we have to mimic an American accent and sing those hits of our time as proof of the "hear-say" method! The date set for final judging (via individual submitted video recording) is August 26th.

Thank you so much for your interest and enthusiasm.
