Principal's Report

Grade 5/6 Camp

I had a great time on the second Grade 5/6 Charnwood Camp last week with the Lockett's and the Mac's. The kids were awesome, as was the weather...considering it is still Winter!

Special thanks to all of our adult campers for supporting our students, both staff and parents.

Below are some of my favourites memories from camp. These are some notes to go with them:

1. Catching snow directly into your mouth is awesome

2. Beating students in toboggan races (with grace and modesty) is satisfyingly awesome

3. Standing in heavy snowfall is very awesome

4. Capturing the fear on Miss Lockett's face on the flying fox is so awesome

5. Being able to wake up in the morning with a built-in superhero mask must be awesome

6. Having an alternative place to store your spoon while waiting for food is strangely awesome

Staffing News

Yesterday we finished the process to appoint a replacement teacher for Miss Coatsworth’s, given her impending departure on Friday. We are pleased to announce that Mrs Natalie Todeschini was the successful applicant and she will commence at our school on Monday morning.

Mrs Todeschini is currently teaching at Bridgewood Primary School, where she is a classroom teacher and a Learning Specialist. Learning Specialists are highly skilled teachers that work with other teachers to improve their practice.

I feel very fortunate to have worked with Miss Coatsworth since the start of 2020. She is an amazing teacher and her new school are very lucky to have her. Miss Coatsworth worked extremely long hours to support her children and ensure they were happy and progressing well with their learning. She also had a significant impact on some of our school priorities. Her work with the School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support team was invaluable and her drive to implement greater student voice and agency will leave a lasting legacy on our school.

I wish Miss Coatsworth all the very best for her move to Geelong and in all future endeavours.

SRC Project Underway

Our SRC Project from last year has finally started. Our students put together a proposal to School Council to highlight some changes that they would like to see happen at the top of the school. Addressing some drainage issues was one of the items. Once this has been done we will be able to move on to their other tasks. These include:

  • New seating
  • New play areas
  • New sports area
  • Playground repairs

We will keep you updated as we work our way through these tasks.
