YOUNG VINNIES - VISIT BY KOONDOOLA PRIMARY SCHOOL

To help celebrate and raise awareness for NAIDOC Week at the College, a group of Young Vinnies students welcomed 17 Aboriginal students from Years 4-6 at Koondoola Primary School to the College for lunch, arts and crafts and games on Wednesday. Students loved the opportunity to continue to form friendships with each other while sharing a fun-filled experience. There were smiles all round as the Koondoola Primary School students shared lunch overlooking the Indian Ocean before the joy of some friendly volleyball games with some of our Young Vinnies students. The children also enjoyed doing some Aboriginal art and craft before leaving the College. They were excited to be able to take home a small rock that they had painted.

Our relationship with Koondoola Primary School has been going for over six years and we have formed some great friendships and memories during this time. Our Year 7 Kids Food for Kids lunch program, where each Year 7 PCG makes 40 lunches for Koondoola Primary School, is another link to this school.

It was heart-warming to see the close friendships that have formed with the children, and, in particular, the hugs and chatter with our Vinnies students and staff when the little ones were saying goodbye.
