HCC Autumn Concert

Autumn Concert

On Wednesday 17 May 2017, the music department at HCC held their annual Autumn Concert.  The night was hugely successful with over 80 students participating in various ensembles.  It was great to hear the high standard of music presented by the students in their different groups. It was also fantastic to see so many family and friends filling the auditorium. A big thank you to all staff who prepared the ensembles and those who assisted on the evening.

Mrs  Julianne Sim - Head of Music

I feel like the Autumn Concert went quite well.  It had a good array of talents and acts.

The school band went well but I felt that we were a bit quiet overall. The Year 8 Chapel Band performed much better than first anticipated due to a late change in songs.

Isaac John, Year 8

I thought that everyone who participated in the Autumn Concert performed up to the standard set at the end of last year (at presentation night), maybe even better. The individual music groups played really well together.

Lachlan Hart, Year 9

I think the Secondary band was one of the stronger bands that performed on the night. The concert opened my eyes to the performance levels of other students.

Chaya Atkins, Year 9

I really enjoyed the the Autumn Concert because it was really amazing to hear how far we have come since my first concert in Year 7 and how all of our work came together on the night.

Kiara Jack, Year 9

I really enjoyed all the songs played by everyone. I really liked the songs I played 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and 'Beauty and the Beast'. Everyone played really well.

Joanne Knorr, Year 9

Last week, the Autumn concert was very good because all of the groups were well prepared and sounded really strong and good.

Hannah Stamp, Year 9

Something that was good about the Autumn Concert was that all the bands sounded really good together and had lots of practice and rehearsal go into their item. Everybody did their best and performed really well, getting the audience involved in the worship too.

Jade Smith, Year 8

I enjoyed the saxophone ensemble and the chapel band. It was strange seeing this year’s Year 7’s in the same position that we were in last year.

Jordyn Nel, Year 8

The concert was a fabulous experience. All the music sounded really good.

Josh Malcolm, Year 8

In the Autumn Concert, I was in the Year 8 Chapel Band. We opened the night and I think we

did really well. I also think that all the ensembles sounded really good and well rehearsed. The Primary

Chapel Band closed the night and they did really well. They ended the night on a very high note.

All in all, I think the concert went really well.

Chelsea Scott-Hayward, Year 8
