Welcome back!

Our 2018 school year finished on a very high note with some outstanding results and outcomes achieved by our Graduating Year 12 students.  Congratulations to all involved, and I’d like to acknowledge all staff who assisted in one way or another in supporting these students in their time at Wanganui Park. Our 2019 school year commenced with 250 Year 7 students joining us,  in addition to 38 new students in Years 8-12.  There would have been the usual mix of emotions for these young people relating to this, but I am pleased to report that all seem to have settled in extremely well.

For parents and guardians new to the school, the Newslink is published fortnightly, and it contains information from across the school regarding various events, programs, activities and achievements, to name just a few things.  Please keep informed as the year progresses by reading this as it arrives each fortnight.

This year we welcome Ian Goldrick to the Principal class team, as Gerry Vecchio is reducing his time spent at the school, taking a Year 11 Maths class to keep him busy as he mixes work and semi-retirement.  Gerry made a terrific contribution to our school over many years, and I was privileged to have his expertise on hand to assist in many ways.  Although we haven’t released Gerry fully just yet, we are very happy to have Ian to work with us, as he too brings a wealth of experience and skills to the position.  We are equally passionate about our school and state education, and we will continue to oversee the provision of the highest quality education possible for all of our students.

We also welcome a number of new staff, as teachers, ES staff and trainees, and you will be introduced to some of these in this edition, with others to follow in future editions.

Also in this edition comes the news of the appointment of the new Executive Principal of the new school coming to Shepparton.  We look forward to working with Genevieve in helping to shape the future of state education across Greater Shepparton.
