Year 11 Economics Excursion to the Preston Market
On Wednesday the 28th of April, Miss Lilikakis and the year 11 Economics class headed to the Preston market to see the law of supply and demand in action. Currently in Economics, the class is looking at factors that change the demand of products and services customers want and the factors that help a business decide what products they are willing to make to supply the customer with.
This can be a really tricky topic to understand, it’s easier to see this in action. Students took their worksheets and a positive attitude as they explored the market to compare vendors and get their opinions on what it’s like to operate at the Preston Market.
While the students explored, Miss Lilikakis found the opportunity to have coffee and cake with her mum who is a regular at the market. Whilst they were walking around, two students Tarek and Yousif surprised them both with a beautiful bunch of flowers. Both Miss Lilikakis and her mum where overwhelmed with emotions to which the boys got big hugs from her mum.
Towards the end of our excursion, the class gained a wonderful compliment from a family at the market. The gentleman who provided the compliment is a retired teacher and made the comment that in all his years of teaching, he hasn’t seen a class get a long so well as our year 11 Economics class.
This topped off a brilliant day at the market. Students saw the law of supply and demand in action, Miss Lilikakis got flowers and the class as a whole cemented our College values.
