What’s happening in Science?!

Incursions/Excursions

This week, select students had the opportunity to (virtually) meet Dr James Green, Chief Scientist of NASA for a talk about current Mars exploration, Perseverance Rover, the Martian and all things NASA. This was facilitated by the Victorian Space Science Education Centre (VSSEC).

“I know now that Mars is not what it seems.” – Harini PONSARAVANA LAKSHMANAPERUMAL

“Mars was the original Earth!” – Hanz GALARAGA

Year 9

Year 9 students have begun studying Matter and are completing Flame test experiments. Flame tests simulate colourful fireworks and provide evidence of electrons jumping between energy levels within the atom.

Science Club

Science Club is now running every Wednesday at lunchtimes for Years 7 and 8 students. Each week we offer a different activity for the students. So far this term, we have made mini rockets and worked on the Science Centre vege patch, including setting up Mr Tempone’s in house constructed irrigation system.
