Rise to the Challenge

Open Days

We encourage all our parents and carers to attend our open days. You will get a ‘behind the scenes’ look into Galilee school life and chance to step into classrooms for a glimpse into the school’s learning culture.

Watch closely to observe the rapport between the members of their class, and listen to how students and teachers talk about their learning and progress.

You will also have the chance to see all areas of the school in action, with students and teachers learning together inside classrooms. You’ll be able to walk the corridors alongside the students, and be part of the everyday school life. It might be noisy – but it’ll be real! So PLEASE come along on Tuesday 25 May!

What Matters?  Writing Competition entries close Friday 21 May

Stage 3 will be entering the 'what matters' writing competition. It will give them a platform to raise their voices on the issues that matter to them - plus, there are excellent prizes up for grabs.

Here's a video message from Craig Reucassel, What Matters? Patron for our students, encouraging them to share what matters to them:

Already this year we've seen that young Australians have plenty to say on issues big and small. The What Matters? writing competition provides an opportunity for young people to express what they care about, as well as providing an exercise in critical thinking, civics and writing with clear links to the Australian Curriculum.

Meet What Matters? 2020 overall competition winner Tanisha Tahsin

There are so many reasons to participate in the What Matters? competition:

  1. It’s free and easy to enter online.
  2. It’s a fantastic platform that shines a light on young people’s ideas.
  3. Our winners and runners up have their work published and promoted.
  4. We champion the work of our schools and teachers who help promote What Matters?
  5. Your school and students could win incredible prizes, including mentoring programs, trips to Parliament House and money!

We really rely on our outstanding teachers to help raise the profile of this nationally significant program, and we’re so grateful for your support. Please email whatmatters@whitlam.org with any questions, or visit the link below for more information and support.
