Year 10 work experience placements

A reminder for Year 10 students! You have less than four weeks left to organise work experience placements, and complete OHS requirements.  Tutors will be working with you on this task for the remainder of Term One.  You need to be well prepared, and ask questions if you need assistance.  There are many resources to help you on My Northcote High – so ensure that you use these.  If you haven’t sorted out a placement yet, you need to prioritise this over the next couple of weeks so that you have time to complete the paperwork.

RMIT Ready Set Design

Now in its ninth year, Ready Set Design is a series of three events for students in Year 11 and 12 where students will learn about design careers and tertiary education programs in design.  Students are also introduced to folio development and gain knowledge and insight into the selection interview process and folio presentation skills.

Each Workshop event will be held in the April, July and September school holidays. We recommend that students attend all three sessions to get the most out of the Ready Set Design series.  The 2020 dates are:

  1. Wednesday 8 April – Design Bytes
  2. Saturday 4 July – Folio Bytes
  3. Wednesday 23 September – Interview Bytes

Registrations are now open for Workshop 1: Design Bytes. To register their attendance, students must visit our Eventbrite page, select the session/s they wish to attend, and provide their details. Students must be under 18

Photomontage workshop with RMIT Gallery

Remix Culture: Photoshop like your life depended on it is a free, hands-on workshop for students currently studying VCE Media and/or Studio Arts. The workshop will focus on disrupting the meaning of found images via juxtaposition (the art of putting images that seem unrelated next to one another to create a new interpretation).

In this two-hour workshop, students will create their own photographic collages and gifs that address current issues that are important to them. The session will look at how tools like Photoshop can be used to respond to current affairs both creatively and critically.

No Photoshop experience required, the workshop facilitators will teach you what you need to know.

When: Wednesday 1 April 2020, 2pm–4pm

Location: RMIT Gallery, 344 Swanston Street Melbourne

This workshop has only 10 places available, please complete the form at http://bit.ly/rmitgallery-remix and tell us in 150 words or less, why you would like to participate.

Applications close midday, Monday 8 March.
