Sports Report

Next week we will have our “Summer Sports Awards” Assembly. To give you further insight as to how these are awarded please be aware of the AWARDS CRITERIA that were introduced in 2019. The criteria is less subjective and will reward more students in Awards Criteria 2 over the coming years provided they are fully COMMITTED to their chosen sport for the school. Outstanding sporting performances can also be rewarded now with either a Principals Award or Colours.

Also, it is important to understand that these are SCHOOL SPORTING AWARDS – based firstly and foremost on performances and actions for the “College Sporting Program”. Other extra or outside performances are then also taken into consideration.

Please be aware that students can only receive one level of award and it may mean they have met the criteria of a lesser award but the higher honour encompasses this award also and overrides it.

The full version of these awards can be found in the “sports” folder on SIMON.

House Cross Country

The annual Senior House Cross Country event was held today at Lake Hamilton. All students who competed obtained points for their house. Full results will be published in next week’s newsletter. The top five students in each age group will represent the school at the Glenelg Division Cross Country event in Hamilton on Monday 10 May.

Girls' Hockey Report

It was wonderful to see everyone back on the weekend with a full round of hockey completed.

Our B Grade team started their season against Monivae with a very strong 5-1 win. Jemima Bishop-Mowatt, Millie Davidson, India Ross and Daisy Henry were all solid contributors. Under the guidance of Mrs Nichols, Matt Spence and Clancy Munro this side is in for a very good year. The A Grade girls were switched-on right from the start, defeating an undermanned Coleraine 1-0. Captain Chloe Russell lead from the front and was well supported by Gracie Austin, Alyssa Hocking and Sarah Andersen. It is great to see so many new faces in the side this year, the future of College hockey is looking very strong.
