Performers, Performance and Performance Opportunities.

College Music students are congratulated for their sincere contribution to the College ANZAC Service last Friday.  Through leading the College community in song and providing musical reflection, performances aided greatly the feeling of reverence both in the Simons Auditorium and online.  On Friday evening the Senior String Quartet (Nicholas Hoskyns, Anna Davidson, Millie Davidson and Milo Cooper) and soloists Brooke Hillam (Piano) and Leyland Jones (Voice) performed at a Young Performers Concert held at the Hamilton Club. The room presented an atmosphere befitting a 19th Century chamber concert and was received admirably by all in attendance. 

Anna and Millie Davidson are to be congratulated on receiving reserve positions for the Australian Chamber Orchestra Winter School to be held in Sydney during the winter break.  The ACO, one of Australia’s premier orchestras offers only a small number of places to this program and it is a credit to Millie and Anna’s drive and commitment to be selected.

Following from Term One Performance workshops, this week piano students and the VCE Music Performance class were invited to present, discuss and workshop music with renowned Melbourne concert pianist Stefan Cassomenos and violinist, Monica Curro.

The annual Orchestra Victoria mOVe! program returns to College during the mid-year break.  The Kantor Family Music and Performing Arts Centre will provide a ‘home base’ for the festival, hosting student workshops and teacher professional development and the mOVe! Showcase concert on Thursday night, 8 July 8.  Application for enrolment in the program that runs during the last week of the mid-term break July 6-8 should apply online via the following link and if unsure speak with your instrumental teacher and Mr Hiscock. On the mOVe!
