Standing Tall in Hamilton

College is proud to be a part of the Standing Tall in Hamilton mentoring program. As a school partner, students from both the Junior and Senior School can participate in the mentoring program.  Parent referrals are most welcome - so if you have a child who you think would benefit from the support of a caring mentor and would like more information, please contact me via email kwaldron@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au.

We are also keen for the College community to get involved in this incredible program by being a mentor.  Research shows that a caring adult outside the immediate family allows for a child to grow into the best possible version of themselves. If you have spare hour a week and would love to make a difference to a young person’s life please consider becoming a mentor with Standing Tall in Hamilton. For more information or to register your interest, email programmanager@standingtallhamilton.com

Standing Tall in Hamilton surveys the mentee students at the end of each year, and 96% said that they were happy with who they are. As opposed to 40% being happy with who they are before they were assigned a mentor.  What an incredible opportunity for you to give back and make a difference to a local child’s life!

Mentoring has shown to effect positive change, for not only the child but the mentor and the community as a whole in which the mentoring occurs.  They say it "takes a village to raise a child" and without the generous support of the Geoff and Helen Handbury Foundation this year, Standing Tall in Hamilton simply wouldn't be in a position to support the children in our community.

Senior Years News

What an incredibly busy Term One it was for our Senior Years students. Year 11 and 12 began the year with Retreats involving high activity, team building, reflection and bonding. They all came back focused and ready to do their best. Setting goals and thinking about the future have been an integral part of first term. Year 12’s have been immersed in SAC’s, SAT’s and assessment tasks as well as fortnightly careers sessions with the new careers practitioner, Mrs Churchill. Year 11’s are coming to terms with VCE acronyms, assessments and the expectations of VCE subjects.

Year 10’s began their journey into the Senior Years with a whole new curriculum model and the Emerge program. Change has been interesting and challenging for some and embraced as new opportunities for others. The aim of the Emerge program is to enable students to follow a passion and have some choice in their learning. Self-motivation and leadership will be the focus of some future sessions. Learning Leadership and Service learning underpin the Emerge program.

2021 School Photos

Annual school photos, including sibling photos, will be taken at The Hamilton and Alexandra College by Arthur Reed on Wednesday 12 May, 2021.

There is no need to return any forms or money to school.

Unique image codes will be issued to all students on/after photo day so families can register online to view images when they become available in the webshop.

Registration is simple, just follow the three simple steps on your child’s personalised flyer once you receive it and remember to add the codes for all your children attending this school.

Even if you registered last year, it’s important that you do again this year using your child’s 2021 image code to link their images for the current year with your contact details.

When images are ready to view and in the webshop, all parents who have registered will be notified by SMS and email.

Once registered, please wait for notification that 2021 images are online to view before making your purchase.
