From the Principal

Last week, Years 10, 11 and 12 were successfully enrolled into The Alfred Hospital’s P.A.R.T.Y. Program on Thursday 29 July, 2021. During periods 1 & 2, our senior students will be exposed to the real consequences of risk taking behaviours in the Simons Auditorium. The presentation is honest and real.  I have included a link below which gives you a 10 minute preview for your interest.  https://vimeo.com/472861758

I thank our school nurse, Mrs Rachel Vallance for arranging this enormously important forum and her dedication to the cause of education.  As a teacher who has had to sadly bury past students on more than one occasion, I cannot emphasise enough the importance of this presentation. College is committed to not only educational excellence but connectedness in life and access to important opportunities like this ensure we prepare our students for the world that confronts them.

Next week, I encourage all interested parents to attend the P&F AGM in the Da Vinci Room in the Middle Years’ Positive Education Centre at 6.30pm.  Once the new office bearers are appointed, I will share an update on recent school developments including our progress on the reimagined Year 9 Experience (this is still in progress), our vision for STEAM at College and how the new Year 12 Common Room is taking shape.

Finally, I ask all parents who collect their children after school from MacPherson Street to be especially careful.  There is increased congestion with the current building works and additional staff have been allocated to patrol this area. Our students’ safety remains paramount.
