Sport

Welcome back to Term 2 and winter sport. I have been attending training sessions and am pleased with the commitment that students are making to these trainings. If you are unable to attend training for any reason please ensure that you see your MIC prior to training so that the coach can be notified.

It is expected that all players make a full commitment to their sport and attend training and games every week.

Congratulations

Triathlon

During the holidays Casper Larkin (Year 10) competed at the Academy Games Triathlon day and placed 2nd in the Junior Males event. This once again is another great achievement for Casper. Well done and best of luck for upcoming events.

Athletics

Casper Larkin also competed at the Athletics Australia – Australian Track and Field Championships during the holidays. He competed in the 2000m steeplechase for U17 Males and was placed 10th in Australia and 3rd in NSW. This is another outstanding result for Casper and obviously an area of expertise for him. Well done, Casper!

At the end of Term 1 a number of our students competed at the LANSW Youth State Championships. Amelie Hugo (Year 9) ran the 400m, finishing in 4th place overall in a PB of 1:00.40, just 0.6 seconds off the bronze medal time. The following day Amelie raced in the 800m (7th) and 200m (12th), running PBs in both events.

Will Zakis (Year 10) competed in the 1500m on Saturday morning, finishing in 6th, and then backed up for the 3000m that evening, running a PB of 10:11.53 to take 4th place. These athletes are to be congratulated on their grit, composure and dedication, essential for performing at this level.

Uniforms

All students need to arrange to pay for the uniforms that they ordered last term. If this can be done over the next week then as soon as the uniforms arrive they can be handed out. At this stage uniforms that are not currently in stock will not be available until after the first game. Please check with the uniform shop when your uniform will arrive. Students who do not have a uniform for the first game will be required to wear their yellow polo and navy sports shorts.

Cross Country

The BMGS Cross Country team was selected at the end of Term 1 and all students are required to return their note if they have not already done so.

If you do not own a BMGS basketball singlet, you will need to hire a singlet from the uniform shop to compete in this carnival. Please organise this as soon as possible.

Please come and see me in my office if you have any questions regarding upcoming sporting events.
