Jazz Ensemble at Springwood

Thanks to Neill Duncan (music tutor) and students Alastair Bowman (Year 12), Nathan Hilder (Year 9), Jack Laurie (Year 9) and Jonathan McHugh (Year 9) who took their Jazz Ensemble on the road to a private garden party for Indian medical professionals in Springwood last Sunday.

The autumn weather was divine and the audience very lively with lots of dancing. They were very appreciative of the high standard of playing and that students had given of their time in their holidays to perform. Thank you also to parents who supported this holiday performance and came along on the day.

ANZAC Day

Everyone is welcome to come and support our students at the ANZAC Day service on Sunday 25th April at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Wentworth Falls. The service begins at 8.30am. As many ANZAC Memorial Services in the Mountains have been cancelled this year, this will be one of the few opportunities to take part.

Music Amongst the Autumn Leaves

The annual Springwood Rotary garden event “Music Amongst the Autumn Leaves” will take place on Sunday, 2nd May at “The Old Farm”, Yellow Rock, from 12:00noon to 4:00pm. BMGS’ Stage Band and Rock Band will be performing from 1.50pm to 2.40pm.

Parents and friends are welcome to bring a picnic and join us for the afternoon. Entry is $5 and all proceeds will support the music departments of the schools who are performing. Stage Band and Rock Band are finalising repertoire for this event over the coming fortnight – students please make sure you are at rehearsals on time. A permission note will be sent home shortly.

Blackheath Chamber Festival

A reminder that the inaugural Blackheath Chamber Music Festival will be held in Blackheath over the coming weekend, 23rd to 25th April. The program comprises four glorious days and evenings of chamber music featuring outstanding Australian ensembles, including some of our emerging local talent. The Festival includes a workshop tailored for younger and aspiring musicians, and an open-air performance for children and their families, both in the beautiful Campbell Rhododendron Gardens. Part of the program will include 2020 alumnus Miriam Cooney on the oboe.
