Presentation Evenings

Over the past two nights, we have been celebrating the success of our Basketball and Touch Football teams in the ISA competition. I would like to thank Mr David Rajasekar and Mr Brad Hoffman for all the work they put into their respective sports in the 2020/2021 Summer season. With Covid-19 restrictions and many altered draws, it was a credit to both Mr Rajasekar and Mr Hoffman that the season ran so smoothly.

I look forward to celebrating the Cricket season early in Term 2.

Congratulations

Rowing

Olivia Harris was recently named the Penrith Valley Sports Foundation March Junior Sportsperson of the Month.

Olivia is a successful athlete across many sports disciplines. She is currently competing for the Penrith District Netball Association, Indoor Netball NSW 14s team and The Nepean Rowing Club. Olivia is also a member of the Glenbrook Little Athletics Club, competing at state level and the Blue Mountains Grammar School Netball squad.

In early February 2021, Olivia competed at the NSW Rowing Championships and a Pre-Season Netball Carnival for Penrith District on the same weekend.  The clash of timing for these two important occasions meant that Olivia had to split her time and only compete in one event at the NSW Rowing Championships.

Olivia manages a full weekly training schedule that includes three gym sessions, four 2-hour rowing sessions, five hours of Penrith District Representative Netball training and regular WSAS sessions. She also ensures she puts up at least 100 netball shots daily.

Congratulations Olivia on all your achievements and your subsequent recognition as PVSF Junior Sportsperson of the Month.

Uniforms

All students should have now ordered any gear that they need for the 2021 winter season. If you have not done so can you please email uniformshop@bmgs.nsw.edu.au

Cross Country

The BMGS Cross Country team has now been selected and I would like to congratulate all students who made the team. Emails were sent this week containing the permission slip that needs to be returned at the start of next term.

Please spend some time in the holidays getting out to do some training.

If you do not own a BMGS Basketball singlet, you will need to hire a singlet from the uniform shop to compete in this Carnival. Please organise this when you return at the start of Term 2.

Please come and see me in my office if you have any questions regarding upcoming sporting events.
