Staff Movements

Miss Karen Kissick (Vardy)

On Friday 30 April 2021, the College farewells a

very long term member of the Support Staff who concludes their employment with the College. Miss Karen Kissick (Vardy) will be leaving the College to commence her retirement. Karen commenced her employment with the College on 27 April 2001 in her current role operating and managing the Print Room. Through her 20 years of dedicated service, she has quietly gone about her work and provided magnificent support to all members of the community.

Karen has been an outstanding member of staff. During some of the most important times in the College’s recent history, Karen has worked tirelessly to look after others and she been responsible for producing a wide range of quality publications. Although we can laud Karen for her tremendously efficient and consistently high-quality work, we must also acknowledge the very good person that Karen is, being a wonderful colleague and friend to so many. Karen has been a great support to others and as a College community, we are certainly blessed for having Karen as a part of our community.

We wish Karen God’s blessings for the next stage of her life and we sincerely thank her for the outstanding contributions she has made to St Gregory’s College over the last two decades.

Uniform

It was pleasing to see the high standard set with the wearing of the winter uniform from the beginning of this term. Students and families are to be commended for supporting the College’s expectations regarding this important aspect in representing themselves and the College proudly.

The wearing of the Sports uniform by boys in Years 7-10 on days when PDHPE and elective PASS classes are conducted continues to work well. However, there has been some recent noticeable adverse impact in the Technologies learning area with a slightly increasing number of boys not bringing the necessary additional footwear when involved in practical lessons in the workshops. We need an improvement in this area.

Bus and Train Transport

Parents and carers would be aware of some recent changes to bus services. The additional bus service to and from Camden is very welcome and this will go a long way to alleviating the congestion that was experienced on these routes. We are grateful for these additional services and have passed on the College’s appreciation to the bus company. At the same time, there is one less bus service to and from Campbelltown Station each day as the demand for this service has declined.

College Events

I had the opportunity to attend two days of the Year 7 Camp at Narrabeen this week. This was a fantastic experience for the boys and the staff. I wish to thank and commend the boys for their excellent participation and co-operation over the three days. Of course, these experiences are not possible without the generous involvement of the staff who continue to willingly provide amazingly generous support to the students in a whole range of ways, such as these camp experiences.

This is an extremely full and busy term with a whole host of events occurring at various times. We look forward to welcoming parents to many of the events and functions over the coming term.
