Regina Coeli is prayed at noon from Easter Sunday - Pentecost.

The Easter prayer Regina Coeli (“Queen of Heaven” in Latin) is a wonderful tribute to our Lord’s resurrection and to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Traditionally, it is prayed standing, often at noon, in place of another well-known prayer, the Angelus, during the Easter Season from Holy Saturday until Pentecost.

Pentecost Sunday, 23 May

Pentecost reminds us when the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples in the form of wind and tongues of fire. Filled with the Holy Spirit the disciples shared the good news, baptised and celebrated the Eucharist. Like the disciples, we have been blessed with the grace of the Holy Spirit which strengthens and enlightens our faith (John 14:15–17).

This year the Sacrament of First Holy Communion will take place on Sunday, 22nd August at 12pm at St Anne’s Church Bondi Beach.

To prepare for the Sacrament we will have a program of instruction which will run for five weeks consecutively. It will be necessary for the parent/guardian to attend together with their child for the full five weeks.

The five preparation sessions will be held on:

  1. Wednesday 14th July,
  2. Wednesday 21st July,
  3. Wednesday 28th July,
  4. Wednesday 4th August, and
  5. Wednesday 11th August

All sessions will start at 6:30pm in St Anne’s Parish Hall (Oakley Road entrance).

Please note that to receive First Holy Communion a child must be baptised, have received the Sacrament of Reconciliation in the Catholic Church and be in Year 3 or above.

The cost of the program is $35. This is to cover the cost of the workbooks, certificates, and medals for the children.

Please note that the dress code for the ceremony is as follows: Girls: White dress, a veil (gloves optional) and dress shoes, Boys: Jacket, tie, long trousers and dress shoes.
