Principal News

Dear Parents, Students and Friends,

Welcome to Term Two! I hope that the Easter break and holidays have provided everyone time to renew and reenergize for the coming months. Students and staff have quickly settled into the pace of the term and today the College Athletics Carnival is taking place on a beautiful autumn day.

The format of the carnival has had to be revised due to the change of venue and limited facilities being available. My thanks to Mrs Patten and staff organising the day and to parents and students for their cooperation.

Parents and students have also been kept informed with regards to the difficulties surrounding access of winter uniform stock. Today another Compass message has been posted and I repeat it here.

The College would like to apologise for the disruption with uniform shop opening hours as well as continuing lack of stock available due to COVID.  Fabric has now been received and the supplier has commenced cutting and processing of girls skirts, followed by girls blazers and girls white blouses. We should receive them within the month. Unfortunately fabric for boys junior ties is limited and it may be some time before this stock is available.

The uniform shop staff have back order sheets for you to complete your uniform request.  Once the items are received a staff member will contact you to advise of the arrival of stock for you to either purchase over the phone or pay and pick up later or have your child take home.

We thank parents for their patience around this time of adjustment, we are not alone - a number of schools and businesses are waiting for their back orders with our suppliers.

School photos: A number of blazers & school ties will be available for students to wear for their photo if required. Students should wear as close to as possible the winter uniform and loan from the school what they need for their photo.

Until uniform arrives: If the weather is still warm, students are able to wear their summer uniform with a jumper and sports jacket if they feel cold.

College photographs will be taken next Tuesday, May 4 and spare uniforms will beavailable for students to change into, to ensure consistency. Once again, the uniform supply is beyond our control and we thank you for your cooperation and patience. There are a number of

important pieces of information concerning NAPLAN testing in May. Please take a moment to read them. Last Sunday, ANZAC Day our College Leaders were involved in the commemoration held at Memorial Park. Unfortunately, our strong student representation in the march was missing due to Covid restrictions.

Hopefully, next year will look more like usual. Nevertheless, photographs of our participation are below.

Our College ANZAC Service was held last Friday and I thank HSIE Leader of Learning  Mr Lyon and the students involved for a wonderful tribute to those who paid the supreme sacrifice. This year Mr Lyon drew our attention to the 100 th Anniversary of the RAAF.  His speech is included in this Newsletter.

Peace and Best Wishes
