Staff Spirituality Day – in the hub

On Friday, 18 September 2020, all staff at St. Peter’s College will participate in our annual Spirituality Day by Zoom! This is a great chance at the end of a weird and wonderful term to have a moment to reflect on what makes us a Catholic place of learning. The day will involve external guest speakers who will guide us with:

‘What is schooling Catholic?’

We will also particularly look at our point of difference as a Catholic school, with how we are all shaped by a Petrine charism or guided by the story and legacy of St. Peter and our House Patrons (Assisi, Augustine, Avila, Glowrey, Kolbe, MacKillop, Marian and Romero).

Good Works of Vinnies

The good works of St. Vincent de Paul are commonly seen and heard in Catholic schools. They are also seen in our communities. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul was founded to help impoverished people living in the slums of Paris, France. In Australia, Vinnies has over 40,000 members and many volunteers. Many St. Peter’s College students are part of this story in our Vinnies groups, created with an aim to raise awareness of the plight of the homeless in their local areas.

Just as noble Saint Vincent de Paul, beloved servant of the poor, how may we follow his example and do good works among those who society has forgotten?

Given the current circumstances, we have had to alter the way we contribute to the Vinnies cause. This year instead of running our normal Winter Appeal for those in need in the community we have had to make changes.

How you can contribute?  You can do so by clicking below which links directly to the appeal page which is ongoing and in need of support during these challenging times.

Every contribution makes a difference.

During the break we celebrate the Feast of St. Vincent de Paul on Sunday, 27 September 2020.

Solomon Islands Immersion

From the Solomon’s Island Immersion 2020 crew…

The immersion program to the Solomon Islands has, like everything on our calendar been cancelled for 2020.

This year is the 10th anniversary of the partnership between St. Peter’s College and Bishop Epalle School.  Although we cannot physically be in Honiara, we can still be there.

HOW you may ask?

Well, we as a school community are going to accumulate the distance from Melbourne to the Solomon Islands. That is equal to 3,480 km!

How can we do it?

Well, we are going to count the distance - walk, run, cycle, handstand, cartwheel, crab walk - any way you enjoy moving. It all counts!

Where can I find out more?

On the Solomon Island Walkathon Page (SPACE) you can log your kilometres.

Our aim is that we just want to show our support and bring some solidarity to our wider community.  LET'S GET MOVING!

For more information or with how to participate if not a student - please email Ms. Elouise Johnson (RE Leader, Clyde North campus) by clicking here.
