Spot the International Space Station (ISS) over Melbourne

Stargazers are in for a small, bright treat on Saturday, September 5th 2020 as the International Space Station should be visible to Melbourne residents from 7:04pm.

You'll have five minutes to take the space station in before it vanishes once more into the darkness of the cosmos. While it can be seen, it should look like a fast-moving, bright dot. As the third brightest object in the sky, the space station is easy to see if you know when to look up on a clear night.

Visible from: Sat Sep 5, 7:04pm

Visibility: 5 min

Max Height: 47°

Appears: 10° above South West

Disappears: 28° above E

If you are not very familiar with directions, here is an easier way to spot ISS: Download a free app such as SkyView Lite either on your iPhone or Android phone. When you have Sky View open, click on search option on top right. Type in ISS. You should see an arrow pointing to ISS. If you click on the ISS, you should see a trajectory. ISS should be visible around 7:04pm if we have clear skies. Good luck spotting our International Space Station from your backyard.
