Crazy Sock Day – Friday, 21 August

Junior School students and staff are invited to wear crazy socks with their school uniform on Friday, 21 August in support of an InnovatED initiative by some of our Year 8 students. Students opting to participate by wearing colourful socks are encouraged to bring a gold coin donation. The money raised will go towards hygiene packs for people in need of support. Students will distribute these packs with the help of The Salvation Army.

Clarification regarding Mobile Phones in Junior School

A number of parents have sought clarification about the expectations regarding mobile phones in Junior School. It is correct that a number of Junior School students, for medical reasons, use mobile phones during the day. This is essential in managing their medical conditions and to support their health and wellbeing.

For all other students, the ruling is that if a student requires a mobile phone to check travelling arrangements at the end of the day, the phone is placed in the teacher’s drawer at the start of the day and is given back to the student at the conclusion of the day. Students are not permitted to have mobile phones at any time during the school day.

IPSHA Cross Country 2020

Our first interschool carnival for this year, the Independent Primary School Heads of Australia (IPSHA) Cross Country Carnival, was finally able to take place at John XXIII College on Thursday, 13 August. With only a short lead-up time, students dedicated themselves to several training sessions per week leading up to the event, and the benefit was evident on the day. All of our students represented the College fantastically, with strong finishes, a good number of personal bests and a large number of students placing in the top 20. It was wonderful to see parents able to spectate, and the students and parents provided a great cheer squad for our team.

Special mention to:

Austin Saratsis, Year 4: 1st place and new record holder

Charlotte Bailey, Year 6: 3rd place
